Artistic Staff
Dr. Golden Wright currently serves as the Dean of the College of Fine Arts & Communication at Lamar University. He began his dance training at Busby Dance Center in Victoria, TX at the age of 16. While training in Victoria he joined Victoria Ballet Theatre and performed at SWRBA, RDA and Tanzommer in Innsbruck, Austria. He attended the Joffrey Summer Workshop in San Antonio and Ballet Austin Summer Intensive before joining Ballet Austin. Wright continued his education in dance at Sam Houston State University earning a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Dance. He recently completed his doctorate in educational leadership from Lamar University.
Wright has showcased his choreography at multiple dance festivals – the Bailando Dance Festival, American College Dance Association – South Central Regional Conferences and Exchange Dance Festival in Tulsa, OK are just a few of the venues where his work was adjudicated. His most recent work, Fragmented, was selected to be performed in the Gala performance by three adjudicators.
His work Tell me and A Different Kind of Canvas was invited and performed at TUT in Tainan and Kaohsi- ung, Taiwan. At the Bailando Dance Festival in Corpus Christi, he and his dance partner were chosen by adjudicators to perform Tell me in the Gala Produc- tion.
Wright was a recipient of the Friends of the Arts 2019 Innovation and Excellence Award for his integration of technology in his choreographic works. He has performed as a guest artist with Ballet Arkansas, Beaumont Ballet Theatre, Corpus Christi Concert Ballet, Corpus Christi Ballet and Victoria Ballet Theatre, and is proud to add Ballet Brazos to this list.
